About AFCEA – Las Vegas Chapter

AFCEA is a professional association that connects people, ideas, and solutions globally.

We do that by developing networking and educational opportunities and providing them in an ethical forum. This enables the military, government, industry, and academia to align technology and strategy to meet the needs of those who serve. The AFCEA Las Vegas Chapter serves the intelligence and IT communities in the greater Las Vegas area to include Nellis AFB, Creech AFB, the Nevada Test, and Training Range, local contractors, and businesses. The chapter focuses on education for Cybersecurity, Information Technology, and Intelligence.

About Nellis AFB

Nellis Air Force Base is known by the USAF as the "Home of the Fighter Pilot" and is the air force's focus for advanced combat training. The main unit at Nellis is the USAF Warfare Centre, which coordinates training for composite strike forces involving aircraft types from across the USAF inventory, accompanied by air and ground units of the US ArmyUS NavyUS Marines and aircraft from other NATO and allied nations. Training is delivered through a series of exercises that typically take place at the Nevada Test and Training Range (NTTR), the primary examples being Exercise Red Flag and Exercise Green Flag (West).

As of October 2019, Nellis employed 9,500 military and civilian personnel.

About Creech AFB

Creech Air Force Base is a USAF command and control facility used "to engage in daily Overseas Contingency Operations …of remotely piloted aircraft systems which fly missions across the globe". In addition to an airport, the military installation has the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Battlelab, associated aerial warfare ground equipment, and unmanned aerial vehicles of the type used in Afghanistan and Iraq. Creech is the aerial training site for the USAF Thunderbirds and "is one of two emergency divert airfields" for the Nevada Test and Training Range.
